PETA Wants Pet Shop Boys To Change Name

PETA wants the Pet Shop Boys to change their name to the "Rescue Shelter Boys."

The People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals says by changing its name, the band could raise awareness at every tour stop of the quote, "cramped, filthy conditions" that breeders keep animals in before selling them to pet stores.

The British electro-pop duo, which has performed under its current name for more than 20 years, declined the request but says the animal rights group "raises an issue worth thinking about."
