North Carolina Sen. Kay Hagan says the budget proposal pushed by President Barack Obama is "completely unsustainable and unacceptable" because of deficits it would create.
Hagan said Saturday at the North Carolina Associated Press Broadcast Awards she has been working with colleagues to limit the growth in non-defense spending Obama placed in his budget.
The Democrat said she agreed with many of Obama's ideas but didn't think an estimated $1.2 trillion annual deficit a decade from now would work.
Hagan also criticized Obama's plan for cutting agricultural spending by billions of dollars.
Hagan was pleased Obama was putting full funding for the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan in the budget. She also praised his investments in educational spending.
