Mystery Money: Where Did Teen Get $18,000?

A 16-year-old Minnesota boy has given away thousands of dollars to fellow students and a school aide.

The bag full of money he found was apparently tossed by a drug dealer.

When asked how he got the $100 bills, the student first said it was his allowance. He later said he found it in a ditch -- and led police to a spot by a highway where they also found marijuana and scales.

The boy, described as learning disabled, gave away about $11,000 of he nearly $18,000 in the bag. Law officers collected the money from students and from the school bus aide, who had reported that someone slipped $1,200 into her bag.

The boy is not expected to face charges. A sheriff's deputy says he's "a good kid" who was trying to help people in need.

finders keepers, loosers weepers. Drug money? He found it, it should be his. At least it was used to help friends, and not to buy drugs. He put it to good use where as the drug dealers would have not.

Drug Money usually becomes money for the local law enforcement to use as they see fit. It's no wonder why Greenville police spend so much time chasing pot dealers.

The kid should have been able to keep some of the money, at least he was nice enough to give it to other people that must have needed it. School bus driver should had been hush hush, and she would still have her $1,200.

THat money will end up in the police recreation fund. The boy should have been allowed to keep the money, he did not steal the money so he done nothing illegal. He gave most of it away to charity in which the police went back and retreived back from the charitys. THat just seems wrong right by itself. The police will lay claim on that money, end of story! I know of cases like that. The money does not just float in space.
