Deputies say a video camera helped identify a student they say started a fire at Southern Wayne High School Tuesday.
Authorities say the 1100 students were evacuated, but quick response from the school resource officer and staff had the fire in the boys bathroom put out with fire extinguishers.
They found toilet paper was piled up on a handicapped rail under the dispenser and set on fire.
After identifying a student who was seen in video near the restroom, deputies say the 15-year-old admitted setting the fire. He told investigators he tried to put it out, and then went back to class. Deputies say the student told them he was bored so he set the fire.
A juvenile petition for burning of a school building was secured and the student is now in the Greenville Juvenile Detention Center with a Friday court date.
