Students at four elementary and middle schools are getting new musical instruments valued at more than $50,000, courtesy of a new program sponsored by Fidelity Investments and the North Carolina Symphony.
The two organizations have surprised students of Eastway
Elementary School in Durham; Underwood and Washington elementary
schools in Raleigh; and Chatham Middle School in Siler City.
The donation is part of a Fidelity FutureStage, a new music education initiative to support and strengthen music programs in local public schools.
Forty instruments were donated to the four schools when more than 400 music students, teachers and administrators attended a special symphony performance in Raleigh.
