Edgecombe County High School Students Get Free Laptops

As of Saturday morning over two-thousand students in Edgecombe County will be wired to the information superhighway.

As part of a grant the school district received, high school students from Edgecombe County now have laptop computers they can take home.

The principal of Southwest Edgecombe High School says now students across the county will link up with their teachers and have a computer lab right in the classroom.

A spokesperson says Wilson and Green counties have done something similar and have seen great results.

I would also love to see the condition of these in a few months. Why would someone spend money (probably our tax dollars) on things like this. Yeah it would be a good idea to get computers for the school, but for every individual student....to take home and probably get in trouble with all sorts of things online. C'mon now, the government/school systems need to re-evaluate things like this. Kids don't take things like this serious

Ever hear of giving these kids a book instead? HUUUUUGE waste of money and resources on kids that are barely literate to begin with. Generation Y is a failure, across the board.
