Vote On High School Trainers Delayed

A plan to require high schools to hire certified trainers is on hold for now.

After two high school football players died from head injuries this year, including Jaquan Waller at J.H. Rose High School in Greenville, the North Carolina High School Athletic Association was to vote on the proposal Wednesday, but delayed the vote.

The association says there are concerns about where to get the 20 million dollars to start the program as well as yearly salaries. They also have questions about who the trainers would be and who would do the hiring.

The association plans to meet in the first of the year to work out these issues before they vote again.
