UPDATE: Water Restored On ECU's College Hill

Officials say that water has been restored to all areas of College Hill at ECU following a demolition mishap that damaged waterlines.

ECU says that crews from Greenville Utilities and ECU completed repairs to water lines at approximately 11:15 p.m. Friday.

Water service was affected after crews working for a demolition contractor damaged main lines during the demolition of Belk dorm around 6:15 p.m. Friday.

Officials say that ECU will continue to look into the incident.

As of 9:30 Friday night, more than one thousand students at East Carolina University are without water. ECU officials confirm there's a water line break on College Hill.

According to Public Information Officer Mary Schulken, it happened during the demolition of Belk Hall.

At first, all of College Hill was without water. Schulken says water has been restored to about 1,000 residents.

1,400 residents in Scott Hall and Aycock Hall are still without water. Todd Dining Hall is also included in the outage.

GUC and student housing are on the scene. They hope to have issue resolved in the next 4 to 6 hours.

Schulken says ECU is treating this as a short-term incident. The school has e-mailed everyone directly affected.

The university is developing plans in case this turns into a long-term situation, but they are not expecting it to be long term.
