As the first day of school gets closer, school districts are working around budget cuts.
Duplin county schools hosted their convocation Thursday with guest speaker Lieutenant Govornor Walter Dalton. Teachers got a pat on the back for the work they've done so far and the work they will be doing this year. The superintendent of Duplin County Schools says his approach for this school year is to make sure any decisions from a statewide budget do not hit classrooms in a negative way.
"They're all gonna realize their dream regardless of the barriers. We're not looking at the barriers. This is Duplin county. We are doing things. We don't count the barriers. We count our blessings," said Superintendent Dr. Austin Obasohan
School begins August 25th.
