Insurance Agent Arrested, Accused Of Falsifying Documents

An insurance agent from Sneads Ferry in Onslow County has been arrested and charged with four counts of obtaining property by false pretense.

Department of Insurance criminal investigators allege that 36-year-old David Sharlow, while working as an insurance agent for AFLAC insurance company in Jacksonville, received $41,481.43 in unearned commissions by submitting fraudulent insurance applications. Sharlow is accused of submitting 181 falsified applications under 96 real and fabricated names between August 2009 and March 2010.

Sharlow was arrested on Aug. 18 in Person County and placed under a $10,000 secured bond.

An estimated 10 cents of every dollar paid in premiums goes toward the payment of fraudulent claims.

    Produce or be fired is their mantra. Upline bosses have to get those free trips to Europe, etc. Insurance is the new necessary evil.
