Woman Wanted In Rocky Mount Charged For Leaving Son In Hotel Room

A New York woman wanted in North Carolina on counterfeiting charges has been accused of leaving her 5-year-old son alone in a hotel room at the Mohegan Sun Casino.

Connecticut State Police say Xiao Xu Wu was charged Wednesday with risk of injury to a minor after her son called 911 and said he was left alone.

When police came to the hotel room, they found the child alone and a note with Wu's cell phone number. She told lawmen she was planning to just be gone for an hour.

Police said the 38-year-old Wu had pending immigration charges and was wanted in Rocky Mount, on counterfeiting charges. Reports say she had more than a million dollars in fake merchandise, from Louis Vuitton purses to Nike shoes, for sale at a flea market in Rocky Mount.

She also was charged as a fugitive from justice and held on a $200,000 bond.

The state has taken the child into custody.

The case was continued to Feb. 24. It's not known if Wu is represented by a lawyer.
