A New Bern woman will spend the next three years and eight months in prison for killing her boyfriend in a drunk driving accident.
Melissa Dinsmore was convicted this week in Craven County for felony death by motor vehicle.
The District Attorney's Office says Dinsmore was southbound on U.S. 17 on January 28th when she lost control of the vehicle, cross the median and eventually flipped over. They say Craig Jessman was thrown from the vehicle and died at the scene.
D.A. Scott Thomas says Dinsmore's blood alcohol level was .18, more than twice the legal limit. The 43-year-old woman also paid $2,000 in restitution which was sent to Jessman's family to pay for a headstone at his gravesite.
