The manager of a local restaurant and other residents were tied up, assaulted and robbed at gunpoint in their own home.
Winterville police say four gunmen entered a home on Jasmine Drive around 10:35 p.m. Tuesday as the homeowner and three friends were going into the front door. Police say the homeowner's wife and three year old son were already at home when the crime occurred.
The victims were tied up and assaulted, according to police. The gunmen got away with cash, and police say they may have run from the home.
The victim tells WITN News he was hit in the head with a gun. The man has bandages around his face.
The people were bound with zip ties, according to the victim. He says cell phones and cash from their wallets were taken.
The victim, who is manager at the Tokyo Japanese Restaurant on South Memorial Drive, believes the robbers thought since they had just left the restaurant they would have had considerable money with them.
Police say this crime is under investigation and ask anyone with information to call Winterville police at (252) 756-1105.
