Williamston Cop Resigns After DWI Arrest

A police officer resigned two days after getting arrested for drunk driving.

The Highway Patrol says Synthia Bowen was driving near U.S. 64-A and Melton Road in Edgecombe County on November 17th when she ran a stop sign and ended up in a ditch. Bowen, who was a police officer in Williamston, had a .17 on her blood alcohol test--more than twice the legal limit, according to troopers.

Williamston police say Bowen resigned on the following Monday. She had been a patrol officer in the Martin County town for just a few months.
