Widow Of Fallen Deputy Accepts Honor In His Name

The wife of a fallen sheriff's deputy from the east was presented with the Purple Heart Plaque in his honor Wednesday.

It was an emotional afternoon for Shannon Lewis, widow of deputy Warren "Sneak" Lewis, as she accepted the plaque by the Organization of Combat Wounded Veterans.

The ceremony was held outside the Nash County Courthouse.

It was back in June that deputy Lewis was shot and killed in Lenoir County while serving a murder warrant with the Eastern North Carolina Fugitive Task Force.
