Police in Morehead City have warrants out for two men believed to have been involved in almost a dozen break-ins of mostly seasonal homes on the coast.
Morehead City police say 27-year-old James Locklear of Rowland and 25-year-old James Smith of Fairmont are accused of breaking into 11 homes in the Evans street, Shepards street, and Shakleford street area of Morehead City from November to December of last year.
Captain Bill Dixon says mostly electronics like flat screen televisions and DVR's were taken. Captain Dixon says he hopes to recover items for victims. "What we believe has happened is these gentlemen we're relatively smart about it. They would cruise the neighborhood during the day and take a look
at mail piled up or lack of activity at a residence, and it gave them some idea that no one was there."
Police say the investigation is ongoing. So far each suspect has 25 felonies, 8 misdemeanor charges and 15 warrants for these break-ins.
