Two Arrested In Assault of Mayor Pro-Tem, Home Invasion

Craven County deputies said they arrested two of the four men they were looking for in connection with a brutal assault of the Bridgeton mayor pro-tem.

Captain Joe Heckman said Maurice Poole has been charged with conspiracy to commit robbery with a dangerous weapon, robbery with a dangerous weapon, breaking and entering, and second degree kidnapping. Kent McDonald is facing the same charges.

The mayor pro-tem of Bridgeton, Charles Freeman, told WITN on December 13th that he was pistol whipped during a robbery the night before at his business, 901 Salon.

Freeman said three men came into the salon on D Street around 11:00 p.m.

Freeman says one man came in asking for directions, while two others then burst through the door. He says one of the robbers kicked his dog, so he got mad and started to fight back. That's when he was hit in the head with a gun.

Deputies said they are still searching for the other half of this team: Noah Massengill and Thomas Livingston II. Deputies said all four are connected not only to the assault at 901 Salon and also a home invasion on Half Moon Road.
