Trenton Man Charged For Drug Trafficking

A license checkpoint netted a big arrest in Jones County; deputies arrested a suspected cocaine trafficker.

The Jones County Sheriff's Office says 29-year-old Alvin Blango of Trenton was arrested Thursday evening during a license checking station on Highway 17 just north of Maysville. Maysville police and the Jones County Sheriff's Office conducted the checkpoint together.

A deputy pulled Blango over after he turned off and appeared to be avoiding the checkpoint. Officials say the driver started to walk away from the vehicle but was stopped. The deputy discovered Blango had a revoked license and outstanding warrants for drug and traffic offenses from both Jones and Craven counties. Just outside the car, authorities say they found a bag with marijuana, powder cocaine and crack cocaine.

Blango is charged with three Counts of Trafficking in "Crack" Cocaine, Possession with Intent to Manufacture, Sell & Deliver a Schedule II Controlled Substance, Felony Possession of Cocaine, Manufacture Cocaine, Possession with intent to Manufacture Sell & Deliver Marijuana, Felony Possession of Marijuana, Maintaining a Vehicle for Controlled Substance(s), Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, Driving While License Revoked and Failure to Appear.

Blango's bond was set at $37,500.
