COLD CASH: Traffic Violation Leads To $308,000 In SUV

A traffic violation Thursday led lawmen to the discovery of some $308,000 in cash.

Wayne County deputies say the SUV was stopped on Hare Road. After getting permission from the driver to search the vehicle, deputies found two trash bags full of money inside the rear passenger area.

A drug dog was then brought in to check for possible drug ties to the cash, which came back positive. The money was packaged in vacuum sealed bags.

Police say the driver, Apolinar Ancelmo of Stantonburg, denies owning the money. The loot was seized and deputies say charges are pending against Ancelmo.
