Three Camp Lejeune Marines are in trouble with the law, accused of trafficking in Spice, a synthetic form of marijuana that was made illegal last week in North Carolina.
Jones County deputies say they were conducting a license check station on Highway 17 Wednesday in Maysville. They say the three Marines were in a vehicle and deputies noticed the strong odor of Spice. Deputies found 136 grams of the synthetic pot.
Christian Ewing, 21, Ronald Teague, 22, and Christopher Moore, 22, all of Supply Company, 2nd Supply Battalion, were charged with trafficking in synthetic cannabinoids, possession with intent to manufacture sell & deliver schedule VI controlled substance, maintaining a vehicle for controlled substances and possession of drug paraphernalia. Their bonds were set at $9,600.
Deputies say this is the first case of trafficking the synthetic marijuana in Jones County.
