An Ayden teen, wanted for the November robbery of a Lenoir County family where there was gunfire, has been nabbed in Greenville.

Lenoir County deputies say Walter Cooley was arrested Friday night in Greenville. Last week deputies alerted the public that they were looking for the 16-year-old for the November 27th armed robbery of a family on Hugo Church Road.

Deputies say Cooley was questioned and confessed to his part of the crime. Six people robbed the man and his wife, getting into the home on the pretext of receiving a tattoo. They got away with the man's tattoo equipment, worth some $2,000 and one said "Merry Christmas" as they left the home. Deputies say as they were heading away one shot was fired toward the home.

Deputies expect to make more arrests in the case soon and they believe Cooley is involved in similar crimes in the area as well.

I knew this kid in middle school and believe me, a lot of people tried to help him in the school system. He made his own bad choices. Yes, his family history didn't help him but, he did have choices and he chose the wrong road.

Just one more poor pitiful soul. I sure he did not mean for this to happen. I am sure this is not the first time this fine young man has done some thing like this and I am pretty sure it will not be his last time on the police blotter. Where is the good Rev. William Barber. Why isn't he helping this poor kid. Oh I know there are no TV cameras on this poor kid.
