Suspects In Deputy's Murder Due In Lenoir County Court

Four suspects accused in the murder of a local sheriff's deputy have an appearance in court scheduled for this morning.

Lamont Byrd, Maretto Byrd, Devine Slade and Kion Dail are scheduled to appear in Lenoir County Court today. They face first-degree murder charges for the June murder of Nash County Deputy Warren "Sneak" Lewis in Kinston. Lewis was working as a U.S. Marshal to arrest suspects in the murder of Thomas Hinton when he was killed. Dail, Lamont Byrd, and an unnamed juvenile also face charges for Hinton's murder.

Dail's mother was arrested this week for accessory after the fact of murder.

The last two times the suspects were to appear, their case was continued. We'll let you know what happens today.
