Suspects Arrested After Trying To Dismantle Antique Farm Equipment

Two people suspected of trying to dismantle antique farm equipment to steal the metal are under arrest after crashing their SUV when Martin County Deputies started chasing them.

The Martin County Sheriff's Office says Montreal Williams and Michelle Pittman were suspected in a metal theft that was going on on NC Highway 903 near Roy Beach Road.

A description of their vehicle was given out and was spotted traveling North on NC Highway 125 at a high rate of speed. Deputies began to pursue the vehicle and it crashed in a ditch. Two small children were also inside.

The investigation determined that Williams and Pittman were dismantling an antique piece of farm equipment. The estimated amount of loss was $2,000.

Williams and Pittman were both arrested and charged with felony larceny.
