According to Rocky Mount police a man is dead after he was assaulted at a club early Saturday morning. Police have arrested the suspect and charged him with murder.
Police say around 1:38 a.m. Saturday they responded to a call of an assault at Club Rain on Falls Rd. There they found 33-year-old Jakwan Pittman injured. Police say Pittman had been assaulted by 36-year-old Cornelius Clark.
Pittman was transported to Pitt County Memorial Hospital where he later died. The official cause of death is pending autopsy results from the Medical Examiner's Office in Greenville.
Clark is in custody and has been charged with first degree murder. He received no bond.
The investigation is ongoing.
