Stabbing Suspect Arrested After Fight Outside Pitt County Store

One man is behind bars, and a juvenile could face charges for a fight that led to a stabbing.

Jesus Ornelas-Hinojas, 18, of Greenville is behind bars in the Pitt County Detention Center. The Sheriff's Office arrested him after a fight at Joe's Country Mart on Bethel Highway around 8:45 p.m. Thursday.

Investigators say Ornelas-Hinojas are under investigation for the beating of another man outside the convenience store, in which one man was stabbed. Officials say other people broke up the fight.
The victim's injuries are not life-threatening, officials say.

Ornelas-Hinojas is charged with assault with a deadly weapon with the intent to kill inflicting serious injury. His bond is set at $150,000. Officials say charges against the juvenile involved in the fight are pending.
