Sheriff Emotional As He Remembers Deputy Lewis

The death of Nash County Deputy Warren Lewis has sent ripples through the law enforcement community, especially with the office where he served for nearly a decade.

It took composure, but Sheriff Dick Jenkins found the words to describe his fallen comrade. "I talked to him several days ago and he was talking about the task force and he-I asked him are you still enjoying it-he said "I love it more than anything I could ever do."

Stark reflection on one of the last conversations Sheriff Jenkins would have with his fallen deputy of nine years. Lewis would join the U.S. Marshal Task Force and serve with them for four years. U.S. Marshal Scott Parker says, "Each day Warren set out to make sure that Nash County-and Eastern North Carolina was safe-safe for his family and safe for each one of us in this room."

Jenkins went on to say, "And if the young officers today-even the veterans like me would try to pattern themselves like Warren-we'd certainly be a better off world and community. He is the kind of man that you'd want your son to be."

Sheriff Jenkins added that Lewis' void is one that will never be filled in the law enforcement community.

All because some idiots got high, reproduced a specimen that NO ONE cared about, just to get a free check every month. So senseless for TWO men to loose their good lives so these little fools can live? Something is wrong here, something is wrong with a government that feeds off the poor, something is wrong with a government that KEEPS giving out free pay checks with no accountability. CHANGE IT!!! Can't ride a bike home from work as a DISHWASHER without getting killed by a punk for no reason. A good guy, good husband, good daddy, a darn good officer GONE, for what? So that these punks can keep eating good, 8 hours of sleep a night, and better health care than most working tax payers. Makes me sick some 1/2 a** lawyer will get up an argue on their behalf. Gotta love the USA
