After a high school parking lot fight got out of hand, the Bertie County Sheriff says a handful of teenagers were arrested and are now facing criminal charges.
Sheriff John Holley tells WITN the fight broke out Tuesday afternoon, after school let out, in the parking lot of Bertie High School.
Holley said a school resource officer called for back up when a group of students from Bertie High and the Academy Alternative school started fighting.
The sheriff said five to seven students were arrested on the spot and some of them are now facing criminal charges, including disorderly conduct and simple affray.
Sheriff Holley tells WITN some of the students were juveniles, most between the ages of 15 and 16 years old.
No word yet on any injuries from the fight or why it started.
The sheriff said more arrests are pending, and more details are expected to be released later Wednesday afternoon.
