SCAM ALERT: Halifax Co. Men Hack Bank Accounts To Buy Gift Cards

The Halifax County Sheriff's Office has released surveillance photos of three men they think are running a credit card counterfeiting ring.

The photos were taken at the Food Lion on West Tenth St. in Roanoke Rapids. Lawmen say the three have been seen going straight to the pre-loadable name brand gift cards and going to a cashier. Detectives think the group is operating some sort of counterfeiting technology that enables them to load legitimate credit and bank accounts onto the temporary credit cards. From there, the suspects are able to fraudulently buy and charge freely on unsuspecting victim's accounts.

Halifax County lawmen want people to monitor their accounts for unauthorized transactions. They would also like to hear from anyone who can identify the men in the photos. There may be a reward for a successful arrest.
