A man wanted for breaking into a restaurant and trying to run over a police officer with a car is now behind bars.
Online records show Raymond Cobb of Raleigh is locked up in the Onslow County Jail today. The 48 year old was arrested over the weekend after he ran from police in Richlands early Friday morning. Before he drove away from the Main Moon Chinese Restaurant, police say he tried to run over Officer Roger Davis with his car.
Cobb faces several charges, including breaking and entering and assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill inflicting serious injury.
Cobb is due in court Monday.
Law enforcement have released new details on the suspect wanted for early Friday morning's break-in of the Main Moon Chinese Restaurant in Richlands.
Police say that Randall Cobb is wanted by law enforcement from Onslow, New Hanover, and Wake County for separate charges that include identity credit fraud, and felony breaking and entering.
Early Friday morning, Officer Roger Davis noticed an SUV backed up to the Main Moon. When he went to investigate, he says Cobb jumped out the front door where the glass had been broken out and said, “Hey, you got me.” The officer says that Cobb managed to get back in his vehicle, and attempted to run him over.
Davis chased the SUV down highway 258, when they say Cobb wrecked near Tideland Energy, and took off into the woods. A K-9 with the Sheriff’s Office was called out to help out.
Lawmen called off the search around 3:30 this morning.
Police say that it’s not clear how much money Cobb got away with, because he stole the tip jar from the restaurant.
Cobb faces charges for the break-in as well as assault on a government official with a deadly weapon.
A search is underway for the man police say broke into a restaurant overnight and then tried to run a police officer over with his car.
Richlands police say Randall Cobb from Raleigh broke into the Main Moon Chinese Restaurant on Richlands Highway overnight. Around 1:00 a.m. Officer Roger Davis caught Cobb and recovered what he stole. However, Cobb took off in his rental car, police say, but not before trying to run the officer over with his vehicle.
Cobb crashed near Tidewater Energy and ran off into the woods. Police searched until 3:30 a.m. Friday before suspending the search for a few hours. The search for Cobb is again underway.
Officer Davis was not injured and authorities say he was in the right place at the right time to witness the break-in.
