Rash Of Home Invasions Investigated In Wilmington

WILMINGTON, N.C. (AP) -- Wilmington police are investigating a rash of home invasions in recent weeks.

The StarNews of Wilmington reports that in one week in January there were four home invasions, including one in which a teenager was shot in the face. Police are investigating whether the incidents are related.

Capt. Jeff Allsbrook says home invaders often target drug dealers or users because they have large amounts of cash.

But concerned parents and others have called police because two of the invasions occurred near an apartment complex popular with college students.

The bandits have made off with hundreds of dollars in cash as well as cellphones and a computer. At least two of the victims were college students.
