A suspicious package mailed from Texas has landed a Pitt County man in trouble with the law.
Deputies say they were contacted by the U.S. Postal Service about the package going to a home on Old River Road. When the package was in Wilmington a postal drug dog alerted inspectors.
They allowed the package to be delivered yesterday, with Issac Jones accepting it. Deputies then executed a search warrant for the home and found the package with three pounds of mid-grade marijuana inside.
The 39-year-old Jones was charged with possession, maintaining a dwelling for drugs, and possession of drug paraphernalia. Deputies say the pot is worth $3,000. Also found in the house was $1,100 in cash and another five ounces in the house.
Jones was released on a $25,000 secured bond.
