A suspected drug dealer leads Greenville Police on a brief foot chase, but police were able to catch him and put him in jail.

Greenville police arrested 20-year-old Michael Harris Friday night. While patrolling the Moyewood housing area police attempted to contact Harris for a field interview. Harris was uncooperative and a records check found he was wanted for outstanding arrest warrants.

Harris attempted to flee but was captured after a brief foot chase. Harris was in possession of 40 "bindles" of heroin, 10 grams of marijuana, a set of scales for measuring drugs for sale and over $3 thousand dollars in cash.

Harris is charged with Possession with Intent to Manufacture, Sell, & Deliver Heroin, Possession with Intent to Sell & Deliver Marijuana, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, and Resist, Delay, & Obstruct a Police Officer.

Arrest Warrants were also served on him for PWISD Marijuana, Trafficking Heroin, Maintaining a dwelling, and drug paraphernalia on a Pitt County Sheriff's Office case.

Harris is at the Pitt County Detention Center under a $50,000 secured bond.

I guess they will hold his public housing apartment in Moyewood for him while he serves his time in jail after the trial. Then the taxpayers will be paying for two places for this no good piece of trash to reside. Everyone living in public housing should have to pass a monthly drug test or have their apartment, food stamps, free phone & other benefits taken away. Let them reapply after they become drug free. Crime in the city could really be curtailed if more patrols were taken in the projects and the ghettos. How IS the station working out on old Tobacco Road? Any arrest or crime reduction taking place there?

do you really think a guy with this much dope on him cant stand a 50k bond .?the system is a joke, he will make enough while out on bond to hire a lawyer and put it off for years.

Why isn't more done about drugs in America? Because it keeps the court system operating, keeps people in jobs, helps reduce the population. Disgusting but true.

He was found with around $3,200 in his pocket. Drug dealers do not carry ALL there money on him. That was his hard worked end of the day cash on him. herion dealers get started early, cant have his customers going into withdraw on him. He was hoing to take his cash back home to home and stick it in his shoebox with his past year earnings. Thats where he got his bail from. 10% of 50k is only 5k
