Police: Drug Suspect Arrested After Riding Stolen Bicycle

A man wanted on several drug counts was arrested Monday after being spotted riding a bicycle.

Beaufort Police Officer Timothy Tucker was on patrol in the 800 block of Pine Street when he saw 53-year-old James Patterson riding a bicycle.

The officer knew there were outstanding felony drug warrants for Patterson and attempted to arrest him, but Patterson took off, throwing drugs and a gun in the process. He was eventually arrested.

Police discovered the bicycle was stolen. It belongs to Duke Marine Lab.
