A man is recovering at the hospital after police say he was shot.
Ayden Police Chief Barry Stanley says that it happened around 8:30 Saturday evening when officers received a report of shots fired in the area of Barwick and Lee Streets.
Officers who arrived on scene discovered that the shooting victim had been taken to a house about a block from the scene, according to Stanley.
Officials say the victim, who is in his mid to late 20s, was taken to Vidant Medical Center in Greenville for a bullet wound that had grazed his right leg and entered his right thigh. Stanley believes the victim is in stable condition.
The shots are believed to have come from King and Lee Streets, where officers say they found shell casings.
Police were not ready to release the victim’s name.
There is no information at this time on suspects.
