NEW INFO: Drug Task Force Takes 20 Pounds of Pot, Guns During Bust

Deputies in Pitt County said in partnering with The Greenville Drug Task Force and Lenoir County Sheriff's Office, the investigators busted a marijuana growing operation in Pitt County.

Investigators said they found nearly 20 pounds of marijuana, equipment used to grow and manufacture the drug, nine guns, and $21,000 spread out between three different addresses, including a storage unit.

Two weeks into an investigation, deputies said they paired up with the Greenville Regional Drug Task Force and the Lenoir County Sheriff's office to search three different properties.

Investigators said after searching 5507 US 13 and a home on Joyce Drive, they had enough information to look further at a storage unit on B. Stokes Road in Greenville.

Pitt County Sheriff's Office spokeswoman Christy Wallace said task force members found equipment used to manufacture marijuana at the mini storage unit, but no drugs.

Deputies arrested 29-year-old Christopher Stafford, of Joyce Drive, for conspiracy to traffic marijuana. He is being held under a $50,000 bond.

Investigators said they anticipate making more arrests connected to this case.
