A man has been jailed after deputies say he shot at his teenage son, but missed.
Pitt County detectives say 38-year-old Danny Haddock is charged with assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill, and child abuse.
Deputies say they got a call around 11:30 p.m. Monday night to Haddock's home on Old Highway 11 near Ayden.
The 17-year-old says he was asleep in bed, when he heard his father open the bedroom door and tell him to get up. Then he heard a gunshot.
The teen ran out of the house, while his mother grabbed two younger children from the home. Deputies say Haddock shot into the teen's bed, but the son wasn't hit.
Haddock was placed in the Pitt County Detention Center under a $125,000 bond.
A record check with the Department of Public Safety shows Haddock has several misdemeanor convictions from Pitt County, including two for DWI, as well as convictions for drunk and disorderly conduct, and going armed to the terror of the people.
