Pitt County Attempted Murder Case Spotlighted On TV Show Tonight

A local woman serving a 12-year prison sentence for trying to kill her husband will be the focus of a TV show on cable tonight.

Sarah Saunders, 28, of Farmville was convicted last November of the attempted murder of her husband, Tommy Shackleford. Authorities say Saunders tried to poison her husband, and after he got out of the hospital, she stabbed him in the head with a knife at their home in Farmville.

In an interview last year with WITN, Shackleford said he had no idea why his wife would want him dead.

Tonight, their story will be the focus of the one hour-long show, "Wives With Knives" on the ID channel, or Investigation Discovery; it airs at 10:00 p.m.
