Pharmacy Tech Accused Of Oxycodone Embezzlement

A pharmacy technician is accused of embezzling hundreds of oxycodone pills from the workplace.

Paul Pinto, Jr. of Marshallberg has been charged with embezzlement of a controlled substance by employee and trafficking in opium by possession. Carteret County deputies say the 30-year-old worked at Express Care Pharmacy in Otway.

Deputies say they believe Pinto stole five bottles of the drug, each with 100 doses inside.

Pinto was arrested Wednesday and released on a $30,000 bond.

How could a pharmacy technician steal oxycodone? It's a control II substance which the DEA requires be kept under lock and key at all times. A pharmacist would have to be the one to check out the drugs to a pharmacy technician. The only way he could steal that much in that kind of quantity is to steal it out of the customers bag which would be a direct red flag alert. Stoo-pid if you ask me.

Wow! Otway has a pharmacy? I really should get out more. But seriously, did he expect to get away with it(if he is guilty)? You can't sneeze down east without your neighbor knowing what color it was.

They said "they believe" he took the pills, not "they have evidence" he took them. Oxy is such a sought after drug that any one of the employees in this joint could have taken them. People are paying big bucks for this drug because buying heroin on the street is such garbage these days and they know if they buy the oxy it is pure as it can be. Simple math, not pretty, but simple. God bless anyone strung out on this drug.

The most trusted and well respected man in Ammerica, RUSH LIMBAUGH, was caught both using and obtaining oxycodone across state lines, and he was not prosected or ridiculed. Therefore, Limbaugh is a prime example of why drug usage is not harmful to the body or soul.

Rush Limbaugh is mentally insane. The drugs did nothing but fry his already deranged mind.

The truth? The truth is that Rush is a drag on the republican party, and himself. A better job? More money? Oh yeah... that's a real winner of a post. Shallow minds unite!

What's the matter, Truth on Mar 2 at 07:54. Haveing a better job and making more money is shallow? I find have a good job and making more money allows me to do the things I want and buy the things I want. You must be one of those people who think they are owed everthing just because. Just look at the OWS. Now that is shallow minds uniting.

Well, if that's true then that explains a lot about Rush Limbaugh. He's an idiot and drug usage would explain his neanderthal ideals.

And which neanderthal ideals would they be? The idea that you don't need big government to succeed. The idea that if you're passionate about what you do, you can excel at it and thru that success do and buy the things you want. The idea that you can be your own boss. Oh yea, those are neanderthal ideals indeed. And on a side note, I don't know if Rush is doing the job he loves to do and making lots of money at it. Makes him less and less of and idiot and you more and more of and idiot.

opiates and benzo's are the worst drugs out there.. and what is so tragic people get hooked on these insidiously for real pain at first... then it just becomes an addiction. So sad.... something needs to be done ... but what... drug companies rule and hold all the cards.... Doctors and Emergency rooms need to stop prescribing this stuff.

And you know this how, kat? If this is that kat that i know, then you have absolutely no room to talk. You just need to stop throwing stones in your glass house ;-) Also, trafficking in real street drugs like heroin, acid, and others. Cigarettes are harder to kick than heroin.

Blaming the actual drug is silly. It's not the drug that makes an addict..... it's the behavior and personality of the individual. It's like guns..... a gun won't kill you unless there is someone to pull the trigger.

Pot solves that problem. It doesn't really help with pain, but once you take a dose you really don't care if it hurts. That's the beauty of it. It doesn't develop dependence.

The new 'white collar' crime. People can be hired for pharmacy techs. without being a licensed pharmacist. It's up to the pharmacist to keep an eye on their employees, and especially the inventory.

This is so sad. Percocet and oxycontin and Xanax are the new crack! I was raised well, and everyone I know including myself has been touched by this epidemic in one way or another. Noone seems to have a idea on what to do, but I am sure alot of people have plenty of junk to talk about it! Sympathy to his family and the families of whoever he was selling to.
