POLICE: Man Buying Pot Shot In Behind

Police say a man was shot in the behind Saturday evening, after trying to buy marijuana in a Greenville neighborhood.

Chris Harrison, Jr. of Roanoke Rapids told police he came to Greenville to go "club hopping" and wanted to buy some marijuana beforehand. He told officers that he went to the New Town housing area where he approached a man to make the drug buy.

The 28-year-old man says two others then came up behind him and demanded his money. Harrison was shot as he was trying to run away and friends drove him to Vidant Medical Center.

Harrison has prior convictions for possession of marijuana and so far police have not made any arrests in his shooting. They say the case remains under investigation.

They should legalize it. It would help put North Carolina in a better financial situation if it's legalized, taxed, and regulated. Just another reason why the North Carolina government is such a joke and is full of crooks, most of which come from that pathetic law school up in Cheater Hill.

Now why do you think that marijuana hasn't been legalized yet? After all these years, you would think that if cigarettes were legal and alcohol was legal that this would be too. I'm a firm believer that someone is getting VERY rich off this, and if it were to become legal them would lose their source of income. I'm talking lawmakers, politicians, lawyers, judges. There's tons on money to be made in illegal activity...guns, drugs, human trafficking, the border. Our elected politicians are sticking it to us, they don't want to fix these things and cut their losses.

Welcome to Greenville. I bet he stays in Roanoke Rapids next time.

You know Roanoke Rapids should really play this for all it's worth. Headline, "The town of Roanoke Rapids is so crime free, residents have to travel out of town to buy pot." If it happened the other way around, Greenville PD would use it along with the lower crime statistics.

I agree, they should legalize it. If it was legal, people wouldn't be going to bad parts of town in order to obtain it, not to mention how much money we will save in the court system
