POLICE: ATM Safecracker Gets No Loot

Police say a man broke into an automatic teller machine early Monday morning, but got away with no cash.

Dayshawn Gibbs of Maysville is charged with two counts of safecracking, breaking and entering, possession of burglary tools, injury to real property and resisting a public officer.

Maysville police say they got a call for an alarm at the Cash Points ATM, located in the Piggly Wiggly parking lot. When Chief Carl Baugus arrived he saw a man run from the ATM. The suspect was caught behind the Handy Mart.

The 21-year-old Gibbs was jailed on $20,000 bond.

By decree of the King: All Village Idiots shall promptly lay down their mice and step away from their keyboards. For it is far better to sit there and look stupid, than it is to type out silly things on your keyboards and remove all doubt. This order shall remain in effect 'till further notice...Hmmmmm!

Sheriff Heath is doing a great job! He has done better than any Sheriff! Looks like this person was caught red handed! So that would indicate that he is doing what he promised! He can't help that the criminals get bailed out as soon as they come to jail! So my advice would be if you don't like the say things are going in our great, Jones County- LEAVE! Maybe if the criminals would leave, the crime would stop! But as long as there's criminals, there will always be crime!

Why do you think he is doing such a great job? Is it because everytime one of his employees does something they publish it in the news as if they went above and beyond the call of duty? You should grade his performance on the conviction rate and quality of the arrests, not the quantity. I have sat in that courthouse every Friday for many years and I can tell you he is not doing the service to our county that you think he is. I challenge WITN to investigate conviction rates for the last several Sheriff's. I will guarantee Sheriff Hall will have the best record of the last four that I have been here for. Like the old saying goes, dont believe everything you read in the paper.

Crime fighting is a process. All the law can do is arrest criminals, watch them get out on bail, re-arrest them, they get rebailed, etc. . . Now, if they could be arrested, put on an island far away with other criminals to fend for themselves, THEN crime might COMPLETELY disappear!!! But, wait, I forgot, those criminals have WAY more rights then noncriminals so that would NEVER happen!!!

If you can find a place that has no crime let me know. If you don't like the progress being made in JC, leave.
