POLICE: Man Crawls For Help After Being Stabbed And Robbed

Police in Martin County are investigating the stabbing of a man who they say had to crawl down a street for help.

Robersonville Police Chief Darrell Knox tells WITN that around 3:00 a.m. this morning, Kelvin Leary was found laying outside an apartment in a housing project on West 3rd Street.

Knox says residents called police, and when they arrived, found Leary with several lacerations on his neck and face. He was taken to a nearby hospital for his injuries.

Police say Leary, who is from Bertie County, was walking down the street when he was jumped, repeatedly cut and had his credit cards and $400 stolen.

Knox says they are not sure at this time where the incident actually took place because they believe Leary crawled a ways to the housing project for help.

We're told that police will be heading back out today for more questioning; we'll keep you posted.
