Police said a 14-year-old is spending Friday in the Juvenile Detention Center after firing a gun into a home with people inside.

Greenville police said just before 1AM on Friday, they got a call to 210 Hudson Street for shots fired.

Investigators said once they got there, they found bullet holes in the home along with people, including children, inside the home.

Police said shortly after the call, a patrol officer spotted a young person running toward him from the crime scene.

After a confrontation, police said the 14-year-old, who has not been named due to his age, threw down a handgun and surrendered to the officer.

Officers served a juvenile arrest warrant on the boy after his parents were notified, and he is currently being held in the Pitt County Juvenile Detention Center.

Investigators have charged the teen with discharging a firearm into an occupied property, possession of a handgun by a minor, and possession of a firearm with the serial number removed or altered.

Police said there is a chance of more arrests in this case.

Police said no injuries were reported.
