ECU Says Locker Room Peeping Video Eight Years Old; Hundreds Of Videos To Go Through

More Video...

ECU police say a peeping video that may have been taken in one of their locker rooms was recorded at least eight years ago.

Police now say they are combing through more than 400 video files that have been sent to them.

The university was sent the videos by Zebulon police back in November after they arrested an Ayden man for secretly recording in a Carolina Mudcats locker room.

One video shows a purple and gold locker room.

Lt. Chris Sutton with ECU says the reason it has taken so long to determine whether the video was shot in one of their locker rooms is that there have been several renovations during the past eight years.

Sutton also said none of the people in the video have been identified.

LaDarryl Strong was given probation in a plea deal on a misdemeanor secret peeping charge involving the Mudcats. The one-time Lenoir County Schools employee was arrested in April 2012 after team staff members confronted Strong who was posing as a cleaning employee.

Police searched the 33-year-old man's home in Ayden where they seized 35 computers and at least nine cameras.

According to a search warrant affidavit, “Strong spontaneously uttered that he had done this same thing while in New York, and that nothing had ever become of it.”

The affidavit also says when taken to the Wake County jail, Strong asked a detective, “How you would explain to your father that you were gay and that you had done this?”

ECU says Strong never attended the university and was never an employee.

Previous Story

ECU says it is investigating the discovery of a video possibly recorded in a campus locker room by a man already convicted of doing the same thing in Wake County.

LaDarryl Strong was given probation in a plea deal on a misdemeanor secret peeping charge involving the Carolina Mudcats' locker room in Zebulon. The one-time Lenoir County Schools employee was arrested in April 2012 after team staff members confronted Strong who was posing as a cleaning employee. They say he ran from the locker room and police stopped his vehicle in the stadium parking lot.

Police searched the 33-year-old man's home in Ayden where they seized twenty computers and a variety of other digital media devices. Now Zebulon police say one recording found in the home was taken in a locked room painted purple and gold. Several athletic locker rooms at ECU are decorated in the team colors.

The university says the recording was brought to their attention in November by Zebulon and ECU police are investigating.

ECU now says Strong never attended the university and was never an employee.

Strong, who worked with computers for the Lenoir County School system, resigned from his job just days after his arrest.
