Nine people have been arrest as part of an effort to get illicit painkillers off the streets.
The group was arrested by the Edgecombe County Sheriffs Office as part of “Operation Painkiller.” The operation was conducted over the past few months to combat the illegal sale of prescription pills.
Five firearms, more than 1-thousand prescription pills, cocaine, marijuana, nearly 7-thousand-dollars in cash and two vehicles were seized during the bust. Sheriff James Knight said this is the first stage of the investigation and more arrests are expected.
