Nine people have been arrest as part of an effort to get illicit painkillers off the streets.

The group was arrested by the Edgecombe County Sheriffs Office as part of “Operation Painkiller.” The operation was conducted over the past few months to combat the illegal sale of prescription pills.

Five firearms, more than 1-thousand prescription pills, cocaine, marijuana, nearly 7-thousand-dollars in cash and two vehicles were seized during the bust. Sheriff James Knight said this is the first stage of the investigation and more arrests are expected.

hats off to law enforcement who took the trash off the streets. this article is personal to me, because one of the suspects has my grandchildren in his home. slapping him on the wrist is not the judgement i see for him. he needs to be in prison. at times there were 5 children in his home, the youngest being 1year. i want him off the streets and taught a lesson he may, hopefully take to heart. selling, dealing, abusing is against the law. and what kind of example is he showing the children. none or he would find another outlet for work. i know of an 18 year old guy who was sold painkillers for the high and now he is a parapalegic. 18 years old people.. he is not living, he is exsisting. all the boy can do now is moan. that could be your kid or mine or our grandchild. for heavens sake take them off the streets and away from our loved ones. they have no compassion or sense or they would not put that poison out there. my grandchildren can't make a choice, but the adults can and one of them has made a bad mistake. he has to pay the crime..

stop this nonsense of slapping them on the wrist, set an example of them. send them all to prison and let them know and all their pill popping drug dealing buddies know that they have a spot in prison for them to. how many more of our children and grandchildren have to die before the system actually get off their butts and do something because child protective services is a joke.tarboro needs to get a backbone and quit giving in to the pill pushers and drug dealers just because they shed a little tear.they use drug money to make bail and pay lawyers with drug money now u tell me what's not crooked about that.it won'T STOP IF U KEEP SILENT I WON't stop till justice is served.like i said on a mission i love my family how about you?

MY HATS OFF TO THE SHERIFF DPT. THEY DID THEIR JOB NOW IT'S TIME FOR YOU AS CITIZENS TO GET UP AND STEP UP AND PUT THE HEAT ON THE COURT SYSTEM. THEY ARE THE ONES WHO LET THEM GO. WONDER WHY THE LAW ENFORCEMENT GET DISCOURAGED MAYBE BECAUSE EVERYONE WANTS THEM TO DO ALL THE WORK,BUT AS PARENTS AND GRANDPARENTS SPEAK UP IF YOU DON'T, THEN BLAME ONLY YOURSELVES WHEN THEY WALK.
