Onslow County Sheriff Ed Brown told his department he'll be in and out of the office starting Wednesday all the way through February 3rd. He tells WITN he's using stored up vacation time to visit family and he has confidence in his good staff to be able to get away for about a month.
Chief Deputy Colonel David West will be in charge of the department while Sheriff Brown is gone.
