WAYNE COUNTY SHERIFF: Teenage Couple Dies Of Self-Inflicted Gunshots

A Wayne County teenage couple leaves behind family and friends after investigators said the pair was found with apparent self-inflicted gunshot wounds.

Wayne County deputies were called to Capps Bridge Road, west of Goldsboro, around 3:30 p.m. Monday, where they reportedly found two teenagers with self-inflicted gunshot wounds.

Rosewood High School student Spenser Terry Garrison, 16, was found dead in the truck. Deputies said Garrison's girlfriend, 15-year-old Malia K. Porter, was found in very poor condition. Porter was airlifted to Vidant Medical Center in Greenville.

On Tuesday morning, Sheriff Carey Winders told WITN that Malia Porter died late Monday night.

The Goldsboro News-Argus reports the the teens used the same gun.

Reports indicate the pickup truck had been seen at the location of the shooting multiple times Monday.

A vigil was held for the teens Monday night at Rosewood High School.

One person is dead and another person wounded in a double shooting this afternoon in Wayne County.

Authorities say both were self-inflicted gunshot wounds.

Sheriff Carey confirms that a man died in the shooting on Capps Bridge Road, which is west of Goldsboro. The other victim is reported to be a woman.

The shooting was reported around 3:30 p.m. and occurred near the Neuse River Bridge.

Sheriff Winders says more information will be released later on the shootings.
