The City of New Bern is warning on it's Facebook page and Twitter feed about a scam involving someone impersonating a Duke Power worker.

The city says commercial utility customers are receiving calls from someone saying he or she is with Duke Power and the customer has one hour to pay the utility bill or they will be disconnected. The caller leaves an 800 number for bill payment services.

The city says do not send payment because this is a fraudulent scheme to solicit money.

If you have any questions about your utility bill in New Bern, you can call 252.639.2814 during business hours. Or, to report an outage or utility emergency, call 252.636.4070 anytime.
