Keeping track of crime in your neighborhood is going high tech in one Eastern Carolina county.
Nash County residents can now access neighborhood level crime data in near real time. Kinston also has the same system.
The public can access the free crime data through the web or with an iPhone app, which is also free. Citizens can sign up for free custom email updates so they can quickly find out about crime happening close to them.
“Providing reliable, timely information to our citizens is one of our top priorities, because an informed public is a safer public,” says Sheriff Dick Jenkins. “Partnering with CrimeReports gives us the ability to keep the public informed on a regular basis as to what is going on in their community.”
Nash County joins more than a thousand other law enforcement agencies that are sharing their crime information through the national crime map.
