Police say an ongoing dispute between two men left one of them shot, and the other stabbed.
Greenville police say it happened Friday evening on Battle Street.
Officers say the victim was approached by an armed man about a prior dispute. They say the victim retaliated with a knife, stabbing the gunman in the abdomen before running away.
Police say in the process, the victim was shot in the arm.
Officers, along with a canine unit, were not able to find the gunman.
So far no arrests have been made.
We are working to get more information from police about two reports of violent crime within six minutes and half a mile of each other on Friday.
Dispatchers tell WITN officers were called to 308 Spruce Street at 5:35 pm. Friday for the report of a shooting.
Six minutes later and less than half a mile away, officers got a call for a stabbing at 605 W. 14th Avenue.
We are waiting to hear back from police about both of those calls.
No information has been released yet regarding injuries, arrests, or other details about those cases. Police have not said if the cases are connected.
